Is it legal to Drive with a Tinted Windscreen?
Believe it or not, around 80-90% of cars on the road have tinted glass, but the tinting itself is light so many don’t realise it. When we think of tinted windows, we often think of pitch black glass – the type on limousines and high-end cars – but glass this dark is often called privacy glass, and it’s perfectly legal to have that in the rear passenger windows and rear window.
You can have tinted windows at the front of your car, but the glass must allow at least 70% of light through – any darker than this and your tinted glass is illegal. Tinted front windscreens must allow 75% of light through to be legal.
