Any damage to your windscreen can be costly.
Not just in terms of finances, but also your safety on the road. Your vehicle’s windscreen plays a fundamental role in keeping you safe when driving, and any damage could compromise your vision when behind the wheel – potentially leading to an accident.
If your windscreen does sustain any damage, then you should get it fixed as soon as possible, in order to keep you safe and to prevent it from getting any worse.
So whether it’s rectifying minor damage from a chip caused by a stone or a full replacement of your windscreen due to a crack, The Windscreen Company is here to help. We have years of experience providing drivers throughout the South East and West Midlands with the highest level of service, working on vehicles and models of all types, and ensuring you’re back on the road as quickly as possible.
Our process utilises state-of-the-art technology and years of industry experience to leave your vehicle with a brand new windscreen that will keep you safe and look great.
If you notice an issue with your vehicle and need our help, this is what you can expect to happen next.
Once you’ve spoken with one of our technical advisors on the phone, we’ll either get you booked in for an appointment at one of our depots or, if you’d prefer, head to your location.
The process will begin with us assessing the damage to your windscreen. It may simply require a repair rather than a full replacement, but there are a few circumstances in which only a replacement will do to adequately resolve the problem. If there’s a crack in the windscreen, a chip larger than a coin or the damage is directly in the driver’s line of vision, it’s likely a replacement will be required.
If we’re visiting you, ensure your car is parked in a place where both front doors can be fully opened. This is so the technician carrying out the work is able to properly access the areas of the vehicle that they need to.
The first step of the process itself involves removing the windscreen wiper blades and any trim that could get in the way. The seal that is located around the edges of your windscreen will also need to be removed, this will be done with a specialist wire tool that allows our technicians to expertly cut around the seal.
Once the seal and windscreen wipers are out of the way, the old windscreen can then be removed. At The Windscreen Company, we’re always striving for sustainability and so will make sure we properly recycle the old windscreen.
Next, we’ll prepare to place your new windscreen. Before doing so, we’ll give it a clean and apply a polyurethane seal to the windscreen. Then, we’ll put it in place and leave it for half an hour to allow the glue to set.
Once the glue has done its job, we’ll replace the window wipers and trim.
Many modern vehicles have Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in place that assist with a number of driving functions. These systems operate using a variety of cameras and sensors, and it’s important they’re calibrated to your new windscreen.
If your vehicle has ADAS implemented, we’ll always follow the windscreen replacement with ADAS calibration. We’re fully experienced in recalibrating ADAS cameras, and once we’ve completed this step, your vehicle will be ready to return to the road.
We pride ourselves on providing you with a quick and efficient service that minimises disruption and gets you back on the road as fast as possible. But the speed of the overall job varies from vehicle to vehicle depending on the model you drive. For example, if you own a popular car, we’ll be able to source the glass and materials for the windscreen replacement fairly quickly. But for rare or more unique vehicles, this may take slightly longer. The same goes for price. The cost of this service depends on a number of factors including the type of vehicle you drive, age of the car and type of glass we need to source.
