Nominations for this year’s Autocar Great Women: Rising Stars 2023 are now open!
One of the automotive industry’s most eagerly anticipated events, the annual ceremony is always a highlight for those working within the sector.
In this article, The Windscreen Company will take a closer look at the event, last year’s winners and the 2023 edition.
Formed eight years ago, Autocar Great Women: Rising Stars is an annual celebration of the automotive industry’s most prominent women. The event is run by British car magazine Autocar in collaboration with the Society of Motor Manufacturers, and provides a platform for the industry’s up-and-coming women to be recognised for their skills, innovation and success in the last year.
For the 2023 event, several new categories have been created in order to ensure a greater depth of talent in the industry is recognised. This includes the brand new ‘Diversity, Equality and Inclusion’ category which will celebrate an individual who has made great strides towards making their working environment more inclusive to people of all backgrounds.
The annual ‘Sales’ award has also been split into two distinct categories, allowing for both retail and OEM (original equipment manufacturers) to be acknowledged.
The event announced the opening of nominations on International Women’s Day on the 8th March, which had the theme of ‘Embrace Equality’ for 2023 – something that neatly aligns with the event’s new categories.
Nominations are open now, with people able to nominate themselves or others by visiting the awards’ official website ahead of the virtual ceremony which takes place in June:
Taking a look back at the 2022 event, the overall winner was Alison Jones (view the video below), the senior vice president of circular economy at the multinational manufacturer Stellantis. Alison oversees the company’s 14 brands, which include the likes of Peugeot, Dodge, Chrysler, Citroen and more. This award demonstrated her exceptional progress since taking on the role in 2021, as she strives to meet Stellantis’ aim of generating a revenue of €2bn by 2030.
Other prestigious awards in 2022 included: ‘Government Affairs’ won by Eman Martin-Vignerte, ‘Manufacturing’ won by Mairi Gordon, ‘Sales’ won by Rachel Thompson and much more.
